How to install ruby and sqlite3 in Windows.

Solution

Download ruby and devkit 32bit from rubyinstaller.org

Install ruby.

Create a file in c:\home\username and add the folowing to avoid creating the documentation

gem: --no-rdoc --no-ri
install: --no-rdoc --no-ri
update: --no-rdoc --no-ri

Update gem

gem update --system

Unpack devkit and execute

ruby dk.rb init
ruby dk.rb install

Download UnxUtils and the update Extract files in C:\unxutils.

Add utils to path, goto

Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Enviroment Variables

In the System variable section, select Path variable, click Edit and add

;C:\unxutils\bin;C:\unxutils\usr\local\wbin\

Open a cmd terminal and execute

gem update --system
gem install bundle

Download 32bit sqlite3 library from [1], unzip in C:\sqlite.x86 and install with

gem install sqlite3 --platform=ruby -- --with-sqlite3-include=c:/sqlite.x86/include --with-sqlite3-lib=c:/sqlite.x86/lib

Your are ready to install Rails now!
